Public Houses

There used to be four public houses in Rocklands .

 

The White Hart


The original White Hart was replaced by the present building in the 1920s.
The old White Hart was the same design as the Jolly Dealers, now Walnut Tree Cottage.

 

The old White Hart was behind the present one,which it replaced. The buildings to the right (now demolished) housed a Blacksmith and a Carpenter, with a club room above, used among others by the Rocklands Silver Band and The British Legion.The Pub closed in 2010

The Bell

The Bell, stood at the corner of Bell Road and Scoulton Road and was supplied by Youngs and Crawshey of Norwich.
It closed in 1963 and was demolished in 1968.

The Magpie


The Magpie was situated on Magpie Lane. It was supplied by Morgans of Norwich.
It closed in 1963 and has been converted into a private dwelling.

The Jolly Dealers


The Jolly Dealers was in the Street and is now a private house. An annual fair was held in its grounds when steam engines and roundabouts were among the many attractions.
