TRANSPORT OPTIONS AVAILABLE FROM ROCKLANDS:

BUSES
There is no bus service (possible exception Flexi Bus). The information below is historic and not current. The Bus Timetable is usually available in Rocklands Shop/Post Office, or on the Post near the Crossroads.
It is best to check travel times if you are not a regular traveller

Service 976 leaves Rockland St Peter, Corner House i.e.crossroads at 7.26 arrives Watton 7.42
Service 2 leaves Rockland St Peter, Corner House i.e.crossroads at 8.26 arrives Attleborough 8.42
Service 2 leaves Attleborough at 15.55 arrives at Rocklands at 16.08
Service 976 leaves Watton at 17.33 arrives Rocklands at 17.49

Monthly (last Thursday of the month) bus to Norwich No.26
9.20-9.30 am by Pub in The Street on the Rockland All Saints side of the village and then from the B1077 CrossRoads/Chapel Street. Arrives in Norwich opposite Bonds/John Lewis at 9.50am.
Returns from Bonds/John Lewis leaving Norwich around 2pm.

  FLEXIBUS - Dial a Ride Style
Funded by Norfolk County Council, the Taxibus serves the following villages: Carbrooke, Caston, East Wretham,Great Hockham, Griston, Little Ellingham, Merton,Ovington,Rockland All Saints, Rockland St Peter, Shropham, Snetterton, Stow Bedon and Thompson.
Book the flexibus a week in advance for the Watton Market on Wednesadys.There is only one bus (with 12 seats) and it apparently also takes people from the bus station in Thetford and brings them to Watton.
To use the bus just call 0845 600 2315 by 5 p.m. on the day before you want to travel. Tell the operator what time you would like to travel and your home will be included on the bus route for the day.
However I have been told that the flexibus is often booked up "by the day before" and that you are allowed to "book" the bus up to a week in advance.
The Flexibus links the 14 villages above with Watton, Attleborough and Thetford, and to coonecting services to Norwich.
The Flexibus operates between the hours of 7.30a.m. and 6p.m. Monday to Friday.

A second Flexibus started service on 8th April
The second vehicle will provide school transport into Great Ellingham Primary School and also some adult social service transport into the Manorcourt daycare centre in Griston.

THE FLEXIBUS "SCHEDULED" SERVICE BETWEEN GREAT ELLINGHAM AND ATTLEBOROUGH
This is providing a useful morning connection with a very welcome returning service to Rocklands in the evening.
Departing from Great Ellingham- School Bus Stop- at 7.30am. Arriving in Attleborough -Queens Square. Returning fron Attleborough - bus stop opposite the HIgh School (N.B. NOT QUEENS SQUARE) at 5.15pm,5.45pm and 6.15pm. This bus will go all the way to Rocklands rather than finish at Great Ellingham.

THE ATTLEBOROUGH TO NORWICH ARRANGEMENTS
The First Bus Co will be running the 13 buses between the Bus Stationin Norwich and Attleborough (via Wymondham)

Drivers are urgently required.They are unpaid but receive 35-40p per mile,they can do a few hours, a day or several days a week, whatever they can manage)
A voluntary transport service managed by Norwich and Norfolk Voluntary Services.
It provides access for thousands of people across Norfolk who have not got access to public transport.
Volunteer Drivers are available to anyone to provide trips to necessary medical services such as to the doctor, dentist, hospital, vet etc. They provide a door-to-door service. It is best to ring them several days ahead of your journey if possible. Sometimes it takes them a while to answer this number. The cost is about 35-40p per mile as a rough guide. Obviously they are not available for trips to airports, pubs etc.

They have spare seats in their Minibus for their Attleborough shopping trips which run every other Friday ;ring Keith to confirm dates.
This is a door-to-door service. Book the day before on the above telephone number.
Cost is about £2.50. Mini-bus leaves Rocklands around 9.30-10am and returns around 2pm ish. (Expect a bit of a detour on the way to Attleborough, as other people are collected from the surrounding villages- Go along and make new friends)

This is a private company who run a website and a helpdesk to match people who wish to offer a seat in their car (on their regular work/shopping and one-off trips) with people who would like a lift somewhere (on a regular or one-off trip).
They will ask you to register with them. They will want to know your name, address, Date of birth and will want you to give them a word to be used as a password every time you phone them to offer or ask for a journey.
