ABOUT THE PARISH COUNCIL
<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0Breckland Council is a district composed of 112 Parishes.\u00a0A parish council<\/b> is a civil local authority found in England and is the lowest tier of local government. They are elected corporate bodies, have variable tax raising powers, and are responsible for areas known as civil parishes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Parish Council act as trustees for the Village Hall and the Playing Fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Parish Council owns a few small pockets of land in the village as well as the remaining “telephone box” (now library).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Parish Council represents the villagers in matters such as planning (though a Parish Council has no powers in planning; we are a statutory consultee, with only the same rights as a member of the public)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meetings are open to the public and all are welcome to come along and offer their opinions to the Council. You can find out when meetings are coming up from The Rocklander, from the village notice boards or on this website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
