7. HIGHWAYS
Councillor Gibbon reported that the "Duck" signs in The Street were now in place and the advisory "Pedestrians Crossing" on the B1077 had been erected, but the wording under these signs was still awaited. Councillor Gibbon also added that the Highway Engineer felt that signs showing "Welcome to our Village please drive carefully" on one side and "Thank you for driving carefully "on the other were helpful to reduce speeding. It was proposed by Councillor Gibbon and seconded by Councillor Able and carried that the sum of £100.00 be made available to cover the cost of this sign if Highways did not foot the bill. Lengthy discussion then followed on speeding in The Street and parking problems around the school, some of which may be resolved when the School puts forward their safety initiative.
